We are in 2020, I am now 32 (YIKES!) and I still find myself teaching myself some of the same life lessons:

1.     When you feel jealous… Particularly of another Women… Check yourself. Odds are there is a quality or trait in that person that either attracts you or “repeals” you.

2.     We are all people/humans in the wild trying to survive… All of us….

With that said, one woman who in my opinion has/had it all is Carrie Bradshaw, of Sex and The City. Before you say it… YES she is a fictional character. BUT that fictional character was derived from NYC facts. She was a single/straight woman making it in Manhattan for 6 seasons (1998-2004).

Behind the lens and scenes, I have no idea what happened or who they were… however, she, along with: Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, were real women to me. I like to believe that their characters were more than just scripts and that they were the spirit and energy of (4) real women in the NY wild.

Another before you ask, NO, I didn’t start binging and obsessing with the show at age 10….. It was however produced then. No, for me, my PROPER introduction to Sex and The City began Sophomore year of Uni at Augusta State University…. Thank you, Roomie, and lifelong friend Lori Beck!

Lori and I went to sleep together in a bunkbed for I don’t even remember how long or for how many nights. But we lived together in a Salvation Army dormitory…. Welp, we were two young girls, and we were super scared of sleeping there alone… So we would either tuck each other in watching Friends or Sex and the City OR we would cuddle in our twin sized bunk bed until we fell asleep. That was the beginning building stones of our now selves.

Anyways, we watched the four chikas and we often shifted the order for our favorite. For me it was always Carrie first and Charlette close second. But really what we were doing were trying to see our reflection in the “TV-Mirror” of the show.

Regardless of your intro to these Female Icons, there was always a subtle jealousy vibe that followed. Like who are these women? How are they so fortunate? What did they do to be so amazing and have what seemed like EVERYTHING?! AND! What did they do for money?

Short answer: they were lucky.  Spiritual answer: they manifested it. The Real Answer: It is a combination of they manifested it, they worked their ass off for it and luck.

My top girl idol was always Carrie Bradshaw… So here is what she did and her intro to Big.

SEASON 1. Episode 1 - June 6, 1998

After another one of Carries fabulous NY parties, Carrie met and “networked” with Big for the first time.

She was walking home and Big drives up in a limo like a knight and shining armor. AKA a 90’s high class Uber.

When she jumps into the limo Big immediately asks:

Big : “Where can I drop you”

Carrie: 72nd and 3rd ave. (Upper Eastside, Manhattan)

 Then they talk.

Big: “So… What have you been up to lately?”

Carrie: “You mean besides going out every night? “

Big: “I mean yeah… What do you do for work?”

Carrie: “This is my work” She says “I’m sort of a sexual anthropologist”

Big: “You mean like a hooker?”

Carrie: “No” With a subtle flirtatious smile

                   “I ummm… (smile)… I write a column called Sex and The City”

“Right now I am researching an article about women who have sex like men”

Then Big’s eyes have huge expression and read off WTF?

Carrie: “You know they sex and then afterwards they feel nothing”

Big: “But you’re not like that”

Carrie: “Well aren’t you?

Big with hungry eyes and a capturing huge grin

             Big: “Not a drop”

Carrie: ”WOW!” What’s wrong with you?”

            Big: “Oh! I get it!”

            Carrie: “Oh yea?”

Big: “You’ve never been in love.”

Carrie- Suddenly I felt the wind knocked out of me.
