Corona Pandemic Manifestation Casa
Like most of us in NYC right now during the Corona Pandemic, I spend a lot of time daydreaming about my dream space to be locked into. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love my apartment, my partner who I am locked in with and my neighborhood. But I live in a one bedroom with my partner, so I look at the same walls at all times, and the amount of people that walk by make me slightly paranoid.
I am manifesting, a house made of rich teak colored wood. My haven is surrounded by trees, some form of water, and a master bathroom/bathtub that has doors that open to the outdoors. I would absolutely love to have a lap pool, a small studio and I want the general warm lighting with floods of natural light.
A perfect example of my dream home is Dakota Johnson’s LA home featured in this month’s Architectural Digest. It was built and designed by architect Carl Maston and now the interior design was done by two of my favorite design ladies Pierce and Ward. What is so captivating about this home is that is in LA yet feels like a secluded modern cabin in the woods. This refuge provides comfort, elegance and excellent style… It’s the perfect combination for Jenny ;)
The architecture is like a mid-century-modern + Frank Lloyd Wright fusion because of its intimate/natural lighting, its use of woods, and the large open windows that allow for floods of natural light. As told by AD, Carl won the love of his life from two of his friends (also in love her), married her and built/lived in this home for their happily ever after. One of its best features is the homes natural oasis and lap pool… for whatever reason it reminds me of the Tuck Everlasting springs that Winnie and Jessie meet at.
The interior design of this home is spot on with my dream home! For starters, Casa Johnson is not overly designed, instead it allows for the architecture to speak for itself while still giving the home personality, comfort and charm. There is a natural blend of old and new and the furniture is a wild and tailored mix of styles. And I love how the Turkish pattern rugs marry well with the aged natural wood floors.
Some of the furniture is like a sculptural work of art that adds romance and class to the spaces. A perfect example is the living room coffee table, the perfectly carved wooden legs and thick glass top are just… YASSSS QWWEEENNNN is the only term that comes to mind. Other details that add personalization to la perfect casa are the décor accents which are unusual but look like they came with the house.
I will continue to dream and manifest my future home, but until that time I am cutting out these images from the magazine and mood boarding them.
